Last night of rest before all the campsites close. It was the last campground that I’ve found that is open all year long. Found out today that the ‘Aire du Service Camping’ that I had found as a back-up are reserved just for ‘camping cars’ not tents. WTF? Why can caravans camp for free anywhere they want and we can’t??? The internet connection at this campsite won ...
Tonneins, Aquitaine, France 2totango... o’clock on a Monday, but we never felt rushed and the service was very traditional (more crumb scrapers) and friendly. If you check out their web site you can see that the restaurant is made from a converted 18th century sheep farm and they've kept most of the original character- especially inside the barn portion where we ate. The menu was, as usual, completely in French and additionally used a lot of French haut-cuisine terms unfamiliar to us, but my translation ...
Provence, France shawhans... After trying different entry points we finally gave up, parked the car, set the GPS to “pedestrian” mode, and walked to our hotel – which was only three blocks away. Modern technology loses out to the street sign!<br ...

Although we stopped for many water breaks we finally made it to Agen where we drank a beer on a park bench, like a homeless, which we were.

Just outside of the city we set up camp off a foot pass next to a huge river. We cooked our food on the rocks next to the river and as the sun set we listened to some wierd animal sounds which for some reason we assumed to be aligators.

Miradoux, Midi-Pyrénées, France clgsIt was a long day on the bus, but we finally made it to Provence. On the way we stopped in Avignon to see the Pope's Palace and then made our way to the Roman Aqueduct. After dinner in Provence, we stumbled upon a crazy street party with a DJ. It was fun experience to dance with the locals and get a feel for the flavor of the town. We are off to Barcelona tomorrow!

Sérignac-Péboudou, Aquitaine, France davebren... After returning to the cottage we visited La Cavern Couse, a wine cellar in the village owned by an English lady. She gave Margaret a mini wine tasting and, after a number of glasses had been consumed, was able to suggest the best local wine suitable for Margaret's discerning palate. We bought one bottle for immediate consumption and a better one to take back to Australia. A few weeks after arriving home we drank it and judged it not much chop. I am no judge ...
