Today was hot..35.5 We first went to the Cathar fortress of Montsegur. The fortress fell after a siege that lasted from the summer of 1243 to March 1244. (See photo for more info). Then Foix for lunch at a pub. Followed by 8min out of Foix to Europe's longest navigational underground river, Labouiche. It was 13deg in the tunnel but on this hot day, it was perfect. Home by 5:30 for swim & nuggets for dinner while watching the Bee ...

... around 7.30pm. We came across a little old lady selling jams and preserves and bought some strawberry jam and rose wine paste. Here, the last 500 Cathars lived in peace until the Inquisition interrogators were killed in Avignon by men who supported the Cathar independence.
