... we would go and look at the mechanicals on the other side of the river. Hopped on the tram, walked over the bridge and found guess what - closed on Mondays! But we had a fabulous sightseeing day - the Chateau, the cathedral, the fountains and the pavement cafés. Home on the tram for a peaceful evening, ready for visiting Sue and Tony Berridge tomorrow.

A grand day out in Nantes was planned, initially because we had located a shop that sold Cognac aux Amandes (Almond Cognac), which had proved a great hit with friends who had recently visited us in Malestroit. This warming Cognac, with a hint of almond flavour, can be found in a few restaurants in Malestroit and is served after dinner as digestive.

... the 1144 was full and standing on arrival at Questembert and remained that way through to Nantes. So, it seems as though the trains are well used and if there were a few more of them could be even better patronised overall but a casual glimpse at the timetable shows all sorts of gaps in services that must make planning your day fairly hard going whether you are trying to commute to or from work or fancy a leisure trip elsewhere.
Our first super long train ride of the trip. The ride from Paris to Nantes seemed to take more time than physically possible. Once in Nantes we had a layover before our next train ride and were able to explore a absolutely gorgeous park. You can look at the photos and let your imagination fill in the rest.
