With Geneva just down the road it seemed like a good idea to go and have a look but in hindsight we wish we hadn't. We had already spent quite a bit of time at the other end of Lake Geneva and its beautiful and we should have left it at that. We got stuck in a traffic jam and sat for quite awhile but on the plus side it gave me time to call my son and have a chat so it worked out fine. I snapped a quick shot ...

We caught the TGV from Paris (Gare de Lyon) to Dijon, about a 1.5 hr journey, then the regional train to Dole where our taxi met us to take us the last half hour to Gray. Smooth travelling and the kids did really well considering all the changes and travel time! Once again, I have quite contrasting accommodation experiences to report. The night after the makeshift bedroom in Champlitte, I arranged to stay at a ...

... took us. But on arrival and having done 55k and a hill up to the town in the warm weather, we were very much looking forward to stopping. In fact, I was feeling absolutely stonkered! Not to be!!! The only hotel in town (the other two had closed) was fully booked!

What a dilemma! What to do? Go back 10k to a hotel spotted earlier by the river where Keith had been keen to stop, or push on to Besancon where we had a room booked for the next night? A quick ...
