Well, stop one is complete! We arrived at pacific beach state park around 2pm yesterday, got some more layers of clothes on and went for a walk along the beach (see pictures). Around the ship, it seems there is a
small “herd” of mental defectives, reminding us of our favourite
coffee shop back home.
For instance the “Commando Guy” was
seen by Bert laughing out so loud each time he passed by the
automatic door to the Lido Aft pool. He was going back and forth
through the door, ...
... to their table.
When they get settled at their table,
there is no space left. Every inch has already been taken up with
various kinds of food. If it is breakfast, there will be stacks of
pancakes, bacon, waffles and yogurt. There will be a plate for fresh
sliced-fruit and a separate plate for fresh bananas, oranges and
apples. There will be a plate for raisin toasts, bagels and muffins.
Don't forget the coffee and tea and orange juice and ...
Finally an 'easy' day. By easy I mean not sweating our own body weight snailing it up hills but cruising gracefully along quiet coastal roads through nature reserves in the sun. Still cycled forty miles though meet up with our new friend Richard who is touring from Seattle. We all camp together right by the beach and Ben and I even take a short dip before the sun goes down. ... from my Dad and Ben is most definitely in charge of navigation. Our legs our getting stronger everyday and I can't believe we're actually doing this. After several months back home and weeks away wondering, "Can we do this?" We really are! In fact, "We're doing it", has become our catchphrase. Sometimes we have shouted it to each other in gritted determination when cycling in the pouring rain or climbing yet another seemingly impossible ...
