Historical Traveler Reviews of Chateau Sonesta Hotel New Orleans
Chateau Sonesta is tops!

This summer we (my, husband, daughter & myself) will return for the third summer to stay at the Chateau Sonesta. Here you will find very spacious well appointed rooms and excellent service, particularly from the housekeeping staff. The hotel's wide hallways and charming lobby are nicely lit and, by NOLA standards, blessedly quiet. I recommend requesting a courtyard room if you retire early or just want a bit more quiet. The location (at the corner or Bourbon & Iberville) means that you are right on the inside edge of the French Quarter, a block away from the Acme Seafood House, and a few blocks away from Walgreen's (hey, you always need something!) and the Charles St. trolley.
Great deal & location

We went to celebrate my birthday and my husband contacted the concierge to arrange cake and champagne in the room. They couldn't be more helpful! Our room was also extremely nice, large and decorated very well. Being right on the edge of the French Quarter, the location was very convenient, but just out of ear-shot of the partying. When we return, we will definitely stay here.
Great Hotel!

Our vacation was wonderful. The hotel was one of the best hotels we have stayed in our whole life. Please go and stay at their hotel.
Disappointing

We had paid in advance for three nights through our travel agent. When we arrived we were only booked for two nights according to the front desk. We were told to contact our travel agent about the problem! Not very helpful. Wonderful housekeeping and valet staff, great location.
Could have been better....

We visited THe Chateau Sonesta May 18, 2002. We were there for the first night of our honeymoon. I booked this hotel on line, and I was the least bit impressed. It was a nice looking hotel from the the internet pictures and also from the lobby. When we arrived, it took a while for the desk attendants to find our reservations. Once they finally found our reservations, they could not find the bell boy to bring us to our room. Once WE finally found the bell boy, on our way to the room, he dropped our box of wedding cake and goodie box that was sent from the reception hall. The room was large, however it was definatly not updated, and the view sucked. It lacked personality. For the price, my husband and I would definatly not stay here again.

This is a great hotel. The rooms are much more spacious than the other hotels in the Quarter. The location is perfect, you are right in the Quarter, and close to many restaurants, and Harrah's.
Wonderful Hotel

Chateau Sonesta was a fantastic hotel. Wonderful service. Well trained, respectful, and friendly staff. Premium location. Unbelievable rooms. I was very impressed with the hotel. If and when I return to New Orleans, I will stay at the Chateau Sonesta again.
Great rooms!

We stayed there over New Years 2003. What a wonderful hotel. The rooms are the largest and nicest of any hotels we have stayed at in the quarter. The staff is gracious and the food in the grill is wonderful, however it seemed a little understaffed at the time. The location is great to the quarter and the Superdome. A first class hote in all areas.
Good for the money

Stayed there in July, so the rates were much better than at other times of the year. Beautiful hotel inside and out, but not perfect. The first room they put me in did not have a balcony, which was assured over the phone, and the air conditioner was broken, which is not a good thing in New Orleans in July. I called to report this problem, and although they sent a maintenance man for repairs, the unit remained non-functional. The next morning I was moved to a new room (with a balcony) at no extra charge, which was nice. One more thing, parking at the hotel costs about $30.00 a day, so you might want to ride a shuttle instead of renting a car. Expensive room service, but it's excellent.
Everything we thought it would be

Just got back from the Chateau Sonesta (10/02) and it was great. I had done some research through Tripadvisor and some of the places it leads - the Hotels web site, etc., and saw that there were no negative reviews for this hotel! It was very nice. All the rooms surround the courtyard, which has a small pool. I never saw anyone in it, but it was a lovely area. The bar makes great margaritas. You're very close to the action in the French Quarter, but far enough away so the hotel is quiet and pleasant. There are high ceilings in all the rooms, so you feel like there's a lot of space. We were all very happy with it (went with 2 other couples.) We would go back in a heartbeat.
