Woodford Folk Festival!

... getting people to do surveys and of course to pick up some butts. People's response were mostly positive and it's amazing how many people already had there own disposal ashtray. And of course as I played the role in my butt hunting gear i could wander wherever the music takes me..so if there was a band playing that i wanted to see, i just butt hunted in that area and mingled with the lovely peeps! The people at this festival were great...very laidback, friendly ...

MAROOCHYDORE

... wrong could we be! Annex came down dry - but then the rain pelted down again and we were rushing around trying to get everything inside and the van down in the rain. We drove all day in absolutely torrential rain - managed 75kms/hour on the freeway and couldn't see the "Sunshine Coast" signs because of the rain and fog. Arrived in Maroocydore and it was still pouring. I did make the fatal mistake of suggesting a motel for the night but Kevin ...

... styling down the lines at the point break in town. Contented with the free show I drove back down the coast towards Brisbane. Brisbane was great, becuase I met up with Kelly Ching in ..you guessed it...Chinatown. Our paths seem to cross quite often. We hung out for the day which happened to be St. Pat's. In the process of chatting her up, I found out she used to be a Coors Lite promo girl, so naturally I made fun ...

... our vocal chords. After O'Malleys, we all adjourned back to our van for a few VB nightcaps. It was a great evening, saddened only by the fact that they are in Australia for only three weeks and this is their third week. How sad! How very sad! Still, looking on the bright side, we still have 7 months left of our little holiday. Today we were going to go on a harbour cruise but we were too lazy to move so we have planned to do that tomorrow instead.

First Days in the Far South

... a run, no matter the incessant rain.  So I donned my running shoes and a long-sleeved shirt and jogged the half-mile to the beach.  Once there, from atop the sand dune rise, I was afforded the breathtaking view of the back of my eyelids.  The rain was being whipped up the beach so hard I had to squint my eyes to avoid them being sandblasted from their sockets.  (A good day for a run, indeed!)  So, thinking better of a nice jaunt beside the waves, but determined to run off ...

... us that many of the older people come up north here to 'bowl' in the winter so they can take back their winnings (south) at the end of the season. This is lawn bowling...yes, lawn bowling!! And you know what their winnings are ... meat. She says she knows some people who come up here to bowl and go home with enough meat that they can fill their freezers and never have to buy meat all year. So, you know when you have the last ball in your hand,...and all the ...

We're going to the zoo!

... set the precident by ruthlessly pushing his way through crowds of little kids to get to feed an elephant! Our favourite part of the zoo was the the kangeroo enclosure. The kangeroos are roaming freely and with a little bit of 'roo' food in your hand its easy to get a bouncy new friend! The koalas were also cool, very fluffy and very lazy. The zoo runs a number of shows throughout the day, we managed to catch the live bird, snake and croc shows.

Left Hong Kong, Now Down Under...

... an off licence here as they don't sell it in supermarkets. The first couple of days we have just been going to the plaza, a shopping mall in the centre and stocking up on food and schooners of xxxx. We have already had a couple of BBQ's. On Wednesday we are hiring a car for a week to go and look for a campervan and to see Niki's Aunt. That's all for now. More pics attached of Hong Kong and a few of Aus.
