Yesterday, we toured Auschwitz and Birkenau. It was, of course, as one would imagine, sobering. It was Auschwitz that I had prepared my heart for to be the worse, but it was Birkenau that took me by surprise. I was overcome with the massiveness of the place. It was almost too real to be real! How could this have happened? There was only one goal …

... The door is locked at night but
there is a bell and the night watchman will let you in. The staff will encourage you to take various tours but will also be helpful if you want to travel on your own. Breakfast is also excellent and included with the room.

Description

The Maxmilián Castle Hotel offers both the magic of history and the charm of modernity. For those who indulge in nostalgia for the past we have rooms in the historic wing - situated in the former Estate Office dating back to in 1834, those with a taste for the modern will prefer a room in the extension that opened in 2007. It goes without saying that both wings provide guests with twenty-first century comforts.
