... Even my little home town is buzzing on a Sunday morning. We did happen upon a military ceremony of some kind. They had a bugler, lots of French flags and they played the French national Anthem.....wish I could remember the words....Sheryl?? LOL We popped into the Textile Museum but unfortunately it was closing at midday and not reopening until 2pm. The siesta is alive and well in Mulhouse. For €9 we kept going. If you were interested in the history and design ...

We packed up this morning ready for our journey to France. We went across the road to Cafe Rex for our last meal in Switzerland. It was Alain's turn to drive and with the help of Gavinshka and Katrina in the "death" seat he found his way out of the city and onto the freeway. A smooth run found us in Mulhouse in a couple of hours. A few times around the block and we found the Hotel Bristol and eventually the car park. After parking the car we went for a walk into the ...

Saturday we traveled to the Alsace region of France along the Route des Vins (wine route) to meet up with Deb and Guenther in the 16th century walled city of Riquewihr. Over the weekend, we visited several of the local villages, including Ribeauville and Kayserberg, in addition to the old town of Colmar with its canals and centuries-old buildings. We also made it a point to sample as much of the local Alsacian cuisine as we could in the few days we had ...

It must have been a hectic week. We arose at 10:00 after just the 12 hours sleep. Fitbit says hoorah! Time for a shower. Ah, we're back in France with French facilities - unisex toilets with no toilet seats (but no longer with holes in the floor), and no hot water in the showers. No wonder French women always look cross ;-) It's rest day today, as if you hadn't spotted. Just time to book in for another night before we get charged for ...

Day 11 - Siersberg to Colmar

... besides. What fun camping is! With no other likely diversion, we elected to make some mileage progress today, choosing to take a short, but slow, cut through France. Ship's captain reconfigured Mr GPS to tell him we are a motorhome in the hope we would be directed on "sensible" roads. We also suggest "he" (all good navigators are masculine - better not to mention the converse) avoid motorway "whenever practical". So, ...
