We arrived without a room, and they graciously allowed us to use the "business lounge" to freshen up and sleep there.

          Renovations nearly complete...

Recently stayed a weekend at the Travelodge and was surprised to see renovations still ongoing. Newly opened gym looks great with decent variety of equipment, however common areas particularly the lifts, and corridors are showing their age. The room itself was clean and well maintanied, though the king sized bed was quite firm. A notice in the room indicated these were soon to be upgraded, and the candy vending machines to be replaced with a fully stocked inroom minibar during November 06.

The hotel is about five minutes walk to the main shopping mall, and the free bus stop is directly outside the hotel. However to be honest, after dark there really isnt very much happening in this area of the city in the way of restaurants or bars.

Service from all staff was friendly and relaxed and looking at the list of improvements scheduled, they do seem to be still improving their offering. Medina Executive Barrack Plaza is better all round package, but the rates at Travelodge tend to be a little more competetive. Would stay there again.

          Reasonable value for money

I arrived late one evening for one nite so really just wanted a good sleep. This hotel was fine for just that. The beds were comfortable, the smallish room was clean and quiet.

The refurbishment was .new bed linen but old, chunky beds that would have been better off in a faux castle. A time worn, rather battered but quite ornate chair occupied the corner. It was really a quite comical effect - modern vs the cheap & nasty end of olde worlde.

Location wise, its an easy walk to the Hay Street mall and St Georges Terrace business area. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I didnt eat there so cant comment on the food.

Not a good hotel for business travellers as inadequate workspace with no power points or broadband connection within cooee of the small bench area that served as a desk

I would rate this hotel as reasonable value for money for tourists.

          Rapporto qualità-prezzo ragionevole

          Okay, but far from wonderful

After reading the reviews about the Commodore I can imagine just how bad the hotel was before the refurbishment, as the lifts are still to be upgraded and just look awful inside (wood panelling with lots of scratches). The décor in the lobby area is quite nice, and the lobby has obviously been upgraded, as have parts of the room that I was in.

The rooms have been updated, but in parts still show their age - almost a clumsy refurb, some parts done really well, and other obvious things (like the old fake laminated wood doors) just left alone, and some of the décor is not what I would have chosen. Our room had a balcony with some chairs and a table that was nice, and the rooms are quite large. The bed was comfortable, but far from soft and there is no in room internet access or inroom entertainment on the TV.

I was told that the Pool has been replaced with a café. The café was not open that night, so did not get the opportunity to try the restaurant/café. Did not appear to have any in-room dining, or the menu was missing, but the Grosvenor Pub down the street did an excellent good value meal.

We booked with the hotel direct, and got quite a good rate - which made it quite good value for money. A reasonable business hotel if it had broadband internet access (which it does not), but far from a place to have a romantic city interlude.

The King Size bed was a real one (not two pressed together), but if you like a soft or reasonably soft bed, you will get an awful nights sleep like I did, like sleeping on a board.

I would come back here and stay if they replaced the beds, and only at a good value rate.

          Return visit

I posted a review on this hotel after our stay in April last year. We were very happy with our stay then even though the hotel was undergoing extensive refurbishment. Returning to Perth in November 2005, because of our previous experience,we decided to stay there again, this time taking a group of friends with us. Even though renovations were still underway, the rooms we were allocated had been completely refurbished to a very high, and tasteful standard, and we all had a wonderful stay. The staff were warm and welcoming and all of us said we would have no hesitation in staying there once again.

          Loved the New Renovations

We has a Fabulous stay at the Commodore Hotel. The room we had was spacious and recently renovated including a Huge Kind Size bed and Balcony.

The staff were great they couldnt do enough we wouldnt stay anywhere else!

          Love the renovations

Pleasantly surprised reading your reviews. This Hotel is under a Million Dollar Refurbishment and the Rooms are Lovely. Cleanliness and Service is off an Excellent standard and we were Booked in for 4 Nights and decided to Stay another 3 nights.

We had all our meals in the Restaurant and they were Superb and next Year we will return to see the finished Renovations including a New Restaurant and Function Centre.

This is the most Disgusting place i have ever set foot in. We arrived at about 10pm the first room we were given hadnt been cleaned from the previous guest, the next room was not much better. i didnt sleep a wink in all the filth, breakfast was included but i coulnt bring myself to eat there. we were booked in for 8 nights checked out first thing after the first night. a backpakers would be better than this place

          U.s. navy visitor

Ahhhh yes, the chateau commadore, i remember it well... being in the u.s. navy back then i have to admit, the acommadations could have been better, much better. With the name CHATEAU COMMADORE HOTEL, you would thing it meant something big, elegant, safistication, but no, all the opposite... the only thing nice i can say about this hotel is . . . . .

          NICE NAME

          Hated it

Stayed here last year, worst hotel I have ever stayed in, dirty, cockroaches everywhere, no air con., smelly. Don't stay here. We moved after one night to the Sebel which was fabulous, and cheaper!

Early flight this morning to Perth; it's very cold after the heat and humidity of Darwin but the sun is shining. Got the bus into the city and managed to check in to our hotel straight away. After a quick coffee we were off exploring on foot.

Walked down to the river which is incredibly wide! It was very windy and the water was very rough …

I had an entire row to myself and had my little tv screen in front of me so I laid down for the whole journey while watching 4 films and a few episodes of "Curb your Enthusiam"...
