A travel blog entry by parkitromp on Sep 09, 2014

... into the air and my head smacked against a tree (which stopped me going over the ledge) knocking me out for a split second until the bike followed and landed on my leg. The evidence will be gone by my return so no one will believe me but my body is covered in deep bruises, cuts and scrapes. I came to, checked out my body for broken bones, collected bike and hobbled for five minutes to tell Bushell what had happened (I was at the back). Clearly these runs are for experts and an expert ...

... got ready for some lunch. Sitting down for lunch in the restaurant we were greeted with some of the best views of the mountains surrounding our resort. Bec got an entree of nachos to find it was enormous! After lunch we lazed around some more before setting out on a car trip around June lake to check out the area. All the campgrounds down there were full as would be expected and a good number of people driving around and pulled over taking pics or ...

... re on a slope, but a level floor is overrated, right? We cooked a BBQ of massive local sirloin steaks, purchased at a step-back-in-time grocery store in nearby Bridgeport, tucked the kids into bed nice and tight so they didn't roll out (sloping floor joke), and caught a good night's sleep, head on the high side. Phoebe's favourite thing: seeing the tufa and following the tracks at Mono Lake Blake's favourite thing: our tent (he really liked the tent at ...

Mammoth walk at mammoth mountain

Howdy partners! This morning we were in cowboy country, the area round the hotel was just like a film set and the pubs actually had saloon doors! Unlike the cowboy village at the skywalk we never got shot this time!

Our main destination today was a place called Mammoth (no seriously!). We started off with a brilliant lunch which quickly became Rowans favourite meal ever since as soon as we sat down a group of workmen ...
