... in a straight line and finally make Mammoth Lakes, we are at, 8,900 which feels a bit high, but at least the air is cooler. This would be an amazing ski resort as there are ski lifts right by our front door, but as it's summer, it's quite quiet in the hotel, for the first time on our trip. ... in the summer. The town sits at 7,790ft above sea level with the surrounding peaks reaching over 11,000ft. Several of the peaks still have snow on them in mid-July.

The lady on reception at the Travel Lodge was very helpful with ideas of where to visit and eat. It look about half an hour to check in!

... a while, pecked at it, threw it in the air, pecked at it some more. Finally, about a third of the worm broke off and the bird ate it. It played with the remainder of the worm until it broke in half. Then the bird picked up both parts and flew off. We suppose it was dinner for babies nearly.
