WOW! Cannot believe 2014 has come to an end! Many great things happened last year. My best friend got married, friends got engaged, announced pregnancies, I travelled to Rarotonga and Singapore... and then made the big move to France! Leading up to the end of 2014, Jayden had a couple of days off rugby, which allowed for us to go on a couple of day trips. First day trip was to Saint Emilion, a small historical vineyard town about 45 minutes inland from Bordeaux. One ...

Didn't really go inside them but I wandered around the public parts of the Rijks and made it into the gift shop. Currently eating dinner before we head onto the night train to Munich! Also now have a grand total of three dutch words in my vocabulary bank. None of us speak the language and somehow we survived. Amsterdam definitely lived up to what I had imagined. Just ...

So camping Bordeaux lac. Huge campsite but mostly chalets and mobile homes. Got there before midday and set up. Electric hookup to fire up the microwave and fridge. Luxury - hot chocolate! Then into Bordeaux. Drove to the park and ride and then tram into the city. What a ...

Miles and miles of Merlot

... red wine, mostly merlot blended with a small amount of cabernet franc. The whole town is UNESCO heritage listed, wine growing first started here 2,000 years ago. The steep narrow cobbled streets and pretty little squares are very crowded. And we visit a final "underground church" - Grotte de L'Emitge - this one officially a monolith (i.e. hewn from one piece of stone) complete with catacombs. This is where St Emilion spent his last 17 years. The ...
