... would be good to simply visit the churches where his relatives had been married. What luck! As appears to be the practice in this zone, the churches have re-laid the gravestones as paving stones surrounding the actual church. Today we wake to reports of snow in some parts of England, and in Stafford it's raining and boy is it cold. We rug up ready for the ride.

By the time we get to our first stop, Stoke on Trent, 23 kms out, the cold, the icy headwind and rain that feels like it has edges, has got to us. However, we are lucky to find a train station in town which happens to offer a service to our next stop Warrington.
