We grab a train on to Clitheroe today to stay at her grandpa’s house. It’s always nice to see a big city again, but I look forward to embracing the small town life already. Those kids last night definitely topped the cake. Now we make our way back to one of her childhood homes ...

It took longer than planned because of the trail signs being difficult to following in places and with panniers on it is near impossible to get a bike through the gates on trails that have been put in to stop motorbikes. Today we wake to reports of snow in some parts of England, and in Stafford it's raining and boy is it cold. We rug up ready for the ride.

By the time we get to our first stop, Stoke on Trent, 23 kms out, the cold, the icy headwind and rain that feels like it has edges, has got to us. However, we are lucky to find a train station in town which happens to offer a service to our next stop Warrington.

Tickets purchased, we are on our way ...
