... mark the 900th birthday of the Cathedral.
The choir stalls, which were built in 1380, are both beautiful and grotesque. Part of their beauty lies in the delicate high spiky intricate canopy which is perched above the stalls, and part of their grotesqueness lies in the wonderful carvings at the end of each stall, and on the misericords.
Thanks to Google I now know that a misericordia or act of mercy seat was a really clever medieval way of helping the old and ...

... this had on the Beatles. As a huge fan of Elvis' music (early leather jacket Elvis, not jumpsuit Elvis) it was a good little afternoon stroll listening to some great music, which was a nice way to finish up our time in Liverpool. From here, we are hopefully off to Southampton, Until then - have a listen to your favorite Beatles song and put Liverpool on your list of places to visit, Cheerio - Jess and ...

Today we wake to reports of snow in some parts of England, and in Stafford it's raining and boy is it cold. We rug up ready for the ride.

By the time we get to our first stop, Stoke on Trent, 23 kms out, the cold, the icy headwind and rain that feels like it has edges, has got to us. However, we are lucky to find a train station in town which happens to offer a service to our next stop Warrington.

Tickets purchased, we are on our way ...
