Charme Hotel Nevada Trento

Departed Dublin around 07:30, first stop Italy for the wedding. Arrived in Malcesine for lunch. Checked into hotel Alpino, a great little spot, right in the centre of the town, chilled for a while then caught up with friends who were already settled in.

... it was so much fun!! It was like an amusement park ride but with an amazing view. I took lots of pictures, of course :) At the top of the mountain i ordered veal goulash. It was nothing like mom's. It was chunks of veal in a tomato sauce and it came with mushrooms, potatoes and polenta. It was really good (but not as good as mom's.. obviously). The first thing this morning we packed, again, then I downloaded Carols photos so far in the trip- 950 of them! My camera is malfunctioning so we only have hers for the rest of the trip. It is eating batteries, but not really-after about 2 shots said battery needs replacing and refuses to take any more pictures! Very upsetting! ... too- there is a huge castle/fortress high on a prominent point above the town. This is also a town the rock climbers come to for extreme climbing. We walked all over town trying to find a street fair Maria had read about, and finally did find it- very small, about 10 booths and a food booth where we ate a plate of LOTS of thin sliced beef and red beans - and red wine of course! Really good meat and we all cleaned our plates. Walked a bit ...

We slept sooo good last night-I don't think either of us moved all night! Very tired. Finally got moving, showered, and drowned the bathroom floor- no shower curtain! We packed, Carol went to the reception desk where they told her we could leave our stuff in the room, go out for a walk, and return after 10 to our new room and all our stuff would be in it. I miss the aussies! THe hostel here is really clean, and it's cheap, but there are no other english speakers. I hope that they (the santorini six) read this and appreciate how great it was to backpack together. Anyway, I've had to kill a couple days in Trent before i can go visit Francesco (italian friend), and it's bor-ing bor-ing ...
