... we saw farms, growing strawberries, carrots and cucumbers. Also, Norway’s northernmost orchards where such fruits as apricots are grown. Summer farms usually operate from early June until the end of August. Herdalsetra Farm has about 30 buildings. This farm had no road connecting it to civilization until 1960. All of the buildings were quite small. The largest was the building that they made goat cheese in. All the rest were like ...

The hotel, Scandic ěrnen, was right across the street from our dropoff, convenient! It was too early to check in but we left our bags in the luggage room. About 7.30 we thought we’d grab a bite, the hotel looked a bit formal so we walked up to the fish restaurant in the market where we dined, extravagantly, on shellfish and mussels, not cheap but great! Then it was back to the room to check departure of our fjord/train journey and bed, another amazing day in ...

We wandered over to the old castle and tower, which was occupied by the German's during WW2 and partly destroyed when an ammunition ship blew up in the harbour. There is a park running through the castle grounds and a rough path up to an older fortified area above. We wandered ...
