Excellent breakfast buffet!!
Excellent breakfast buffet! I paid $99 with breakfast included and was absolutely perfect, my 3-year old loved it! Clean and nice rooms, friendly staff, conviniently located. Would highly recommend!
An OK Marriott, but the price! ouch!!
If you happen to be in Charlotte on the same night as an event (sports or concert), get ready to pay much more than you normally do to stay in a Marriott of this type. I was unlucky enough to be there on a concert night and paid more for a queen size bed than I did to stay at the Gritti Palace in Venice. Parking could be a problem if you self park. Location is great if you have business downtown. The room was OK!
Stay somewhere else, they really don't care!
I stayed at the Charlotte City Center Marriot October 7th through October 10th. I agree with the writer about the slamming doors, it is very disturbing.
We arrived the night before our reservation because we were running from a tropical storm in Florida. Before we left, we had called to make sure there were rooms. When we arrived around 2am all they had was a smoking room with a king or a room with two doubles. We figured how bad could the smoking room be? Well after bringing my own bags in and parking under ground, we got to our room. The room stunk soo bad of smoke, we had a hard time falling asleep. After driving 10 hours to get there, we just dealt with it. About 7 hours after getting there, I could not take it anymore, so I asked to be moved to a non-smoking king room which we had reserved. We were moved, but I spoke to the manager because the room we had just slept in was disgusting. I wanted a refund, but was offered breakfast.
The next night is when all the fun began, a group of women checked in for a conference. They felt it would be a good idea to put a bunch of teenage girls in one room. Wrong! We called several times to complain about the screaming and door slamming, but nothing was done. Then at about 2 am a group of rowdy men came back from the bars and yelled and screamed for hours. We called several times to complain, but again nothing was done. The same thing happened again the next night. When I spoke to the front desk manager,the next morning, he had to call security to "make sure" that I had called to complain. Three nights had gone by with very little sleep, so again I asked for a refund. I was offered a free day of parking, "whopee". I have stayed over three weeks at Marriots this year and have not asked for a penny back. I am a Silver Rewards Member and was treated lousy. Charlotte Marriot should read the 5 dot reviews I have given to two JW Marriot's and two other Marriot Resorts. Stay somewhere else!
Beautiful furnishings good service but noisy slamming doors!
This was my first time visiting Charlotte, NC. The hotel staff and service were great, and the room furnishings were nice, but I'm surprised with the noise in a 4 star hotel. It's 2005, and no one has come up with a way to sound proof dry wall? The walls seemed hollow and I could hear too easily the guests upstairs and next door. The guest room doors slammed quickly but loudly. I've never heard this kind of noise before, even at a Holiday Inn! Even budget hotels don't have doors that slam as loud as the Marriott in Charlotte. Most folks would be happy at this hotel, but I like quiet.
A wonderful Anniversary trip
My husband and I took a spur of the moment overnight trip to this hotel. First of all, we loved the location. It was in a good area of downtown Charlotte and was right across the street from the Belk/Blumingthal Theater and close to Discovery Place. We enjoyed being able to park at our hotel and not drive again. We walked to the theater and to a wonderful restaurant close by. We ate at the Sports Bar in the hotel and it was also good! We were not there long enough to try out the other restaurants within the hotel but we will be back! The decor of the hotel is extremely nice and the room was very comfortable. I highly recommend this Marriott!
Great stay at the Marriott City Center
We really did enjoy our stay at the Marriott. It was Just as the pictures on the site showed and more. The room had a beautiful decor. My husband and I loved. We would definitely recommend it to others, and will stay there
again for our next visit. The staff was so warm and friendly, very hospitable. It made us felt so comfortable there. Great staff.
Always My Favorite
The Marriott will always hold a warm place in my heart. It was our hotel of choice for our wedding guests and wedding reception. Everyone at the hotel was warm and accomodating to our party (all 65). They showed genuine excitement for my husband and I. The rooms are awesome and has wonderful skyline views. Our reception went off without a hitch. Unfortunately, the courtyard where our reception was held is now a Starbucks, but that's ok. If you are wanting to be in the middle of the downtown scene, this hotel is the one you want. One block from Morton's, Capital Grille, and 4 blocks from Momosa's, three of the best restaurants in the Southeast. Charlotte has great street festivals and this hotel (located on the Square) overlooks them all! The hotel is only blocks from the club district. Best of all, it overlooks the waterfall on the square where we were married! So when you stay here, please visit the waterfall and think of the Daltons! I can't tell you how much you will enjoy this hotel and it's staff. Please try it.
Great family hotel
We stayed here over the Easter weekend and had one of our best stays ever as a family. We found the hotel very clean and family friendly. The employee's are helpful and friendly. Nicole, the front desk office manager, greeted us upon our arrival and was full of helpful information. She was kind enough to upgrade our room giving us more space for our three and five year old. We paid 99.00 a night, which included a buffet breakfast for all four of us. The breakfasts were wonderful and honestly there wasn't a breakfast item not on the buffet that couldn't be made to order. The restaurant staff was extremely pleasant and friendly to our children. The hotel has an indoor pool, which our kids loved! The hotel is in the center of the city and within walking distance to the children's museum, Discovery Place. We had an excellent stay at the Charlotte Marriott and definitely will be back.
One of the better hotels
I have stayed at this hotel many times when on business trips to Charlotte, it is very convenient to my office and I like the hotel. It is clean, and the service is generally good. The restaurant food is not bad, but there is so much to choose from in downtown Charlotte that finding a restaurant is never a problem. I suppose my only complaint is that you very rarely get the type of room that you request. You can request a king bed, no smoking but you seldom get it, and when you check in you are lucky if you are told that you do not have what you asked for. Added to which you seldom receive an apology from the reception staff. However, that being said, I still prefer this hotel for its cleanliness and ambiance.
First choice for travel
stay at this hotel regularly when traveling for business. Always my first choice with Dunhill being second.
Close to everything including the complimentary downtown shuttle. Nice gym and pool.
Front desk recognizes me when I return between trips and note I am not a once a week visitor. More like once every few months.
Savannah Red resturant is awesome. Same resturant counters under another name for breakfast. Breakfast buffett is just ok and of course overpriced. Can go to Showmars, Starbucks or one of the other resturants to grab breakfast for a couple of bucks.
Always a nice stay.
