... ending struggle of cultural communication. It is also a great ego booster.

At events like this, there are always a host and hostess who MC the festivities. I was invited to speak and welcome the students as were the heads of student affairs and instructors. Each represented class had a representative to introduce themselves. We all sang the theme song entitled, 'I Can Fly’.

Today is New Years Eve on the Lunar Calendar. We know that most of the shops will close by noon today so that everyone can get home to be with their families. CNY (Chinese New Year) is the equivalent of the Christmas holidays in our Country. It is a very special time for family and friends. It is the most important holiday in China and is the first day of Spring Festival.

The afternoon was to be shopping time. We went to Eastern Square to get Cris a coat, but to no avail. But we did get Rick some pants. As we made our way back, we got stymied because we could not get a taxi or a bus. We did finally get a bus and ended up at the Hui Dong Hotel. My day started on the school site with lots of children smiling, waving, and saying hello. On this day was the opening day of their sport meet. The levels of the children here are a little different than it is in US, but not that much. They have 2 levels which consists of juniors and seniors.
