... driver to bring me to a new hotel that was recommended by a couple of Dutch girls we had met in a restaurant in Jaisalmer, but the place looked so awful from the outside that I told the driver to just keep driving. I had him bring me to the same hotel I had stayed in during my previous pass through Jodhpur, where I immediately took a nap to try to rid myself of my usual Jodhpur headache.
By now it was late ...

... is magnificent, or imposing, or impressive, or any of the words I've tried so far, would be to do it a grave injustice. The fort is outstanding and, more impressive yet for the region, outstandingly well curated. The audio guide (the first of its kind in Rahjastan) is entertaining and shockingly informative. It ties the long and mighty history or the Manwar province and Maharajahs to the present day city, including bits ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India hammitt... opening out onto small terraces, with outstanding views of the local countryside. The gardens are charming by night and definitely a romantic place for honeymooners. The rooms were beautifully decked out, and we could imagine what it would have been like 150 years ago. We were assigned a Family suite, which is perfect for a family of 4. 2 rooms and a common sitting area, which has a view of the courtyard below was perfect for us. Large (some are ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India travian... stalls and stalls of bangles on display, and the colours, again, were phenomenal! We actually learned on the fort tour that colour plays a very important role in Rajesthani life - more so than in other parts of India - with different colours meaning different things, such as class and events. I was pleased to finally understand why everything is so much more colourful! A hard days shopping ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India cleavers... but while some smile at you for the photo they whip out their hand and demand ten rupees when your done. On the way up to the fort we are surrounded by a merry Punjabi family who insist on having their photo taken with us. We all cannot resist laughing when we nod and the wife, the mother, and the sister all come running up and giggle and giggle through the whole shoot. We should be charging people for this! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jodhpur
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India ashleythomas... had a couple beers and I was really longing a western meal. So i caved in and had chicken nuggets and fries. It was wonderful!!! Then my dad and I went back to the hotel and napped and then we hit the streets. There was a really cool market and I caved in and bought a couple pashminas - absolutely gorgous. I made friends with one of the ladies who makes them and exports them to the US. After I finish here at the internet cafe I'm going to her ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India mariatanzania... thing...who knew? So I agree, I pay, I shake hands, I have lunch...then I meet Moti....the stupidest camel in India, of course I didn't have any reference for this claim at the time, but now I can say this with certainty. Anyways, we pack up and I get ready for my jaunt to Jaisalmer, I hop onto the camel..." you ride a camel before?" Rikki asks me, his eyeball rolling like a compass, " No problem, It's just like a horse right?" I casually reply...I guess it is ...
Osiyan, India w4nderer... trips on a plane the better as far as Annette was concerned. Approaching the hotel you could see that it was extraordinary. I knew we'd be staying at a palace, in fact the royal family still lives in one wing of the building, but this is a palace among palaces. Along with the bellman in traditional garb we were greeted by two peacocks. I've been fortunate to have stayed in a number of incredible hotels, including our two nights at the ...
