... place with plants seeming to grow where they will. Only in one spot did we find an organized planting of flowers and other flora amid an expanse of lawn. It was a nice walk and by the time we got back to the Royal Crescent the house was open. The Royal Crescent is a graceful arc of buildings from the Georgian period. ... pass the time -- the scenery is enough to keep any inkling of boredom at bay.

It's telling that we left Australia saying that we have to stay 2 nights at every pit stop during a road trip but now that we are in New Zealand we agree that 3 nights is a minimum. There is too much to explore and we question every departure: "It couldn't possibly be as nice as this". Oh yes, it ALL was as nice.

... to lock the car keys in the boot, and for some reason there was no way of accessing the boot from inside the car. We had to call the AA to send someone out, who had to send for someone else to help as they needed tools to basically pull apart the backs seats and get through, result! We set off for some nature hunting on the Otago Peninsula, we spotted albatross, but it was hard to appreciate their size as they were so distant, how dare they charge money ...
