We left Varkala and traveled by train in sleeper class, or poor mans class, two hours North to Alleppey. Alleppey is nicknamed the Venice of India by the Lonely Planet author due to its canals, but thats where the similarity ends. Its really really cool here, so If your reading this (my friends especially) come here now theres 2 months left in the season before it gets really hot. for the faint hearted there are hotels with air con. Even my cheapy place is immaculate with a normal toilet hot shower and electricity tile floor etc. 1 minute to the clifftop, one minute down the steps to a clean beach littered with Hot people (theyr mainly over 25) its not really druggie or party party ...
