... little legs and what a battle it always turns into in order to kick them out. After a half an hour of playing chase and rearranging furniture, he exited and I got ready for bed only to discover a centipede and other creepy crawlies in the bathroom. I resigned, went to bed, dreaming of a hot shower.
Morning broke with the sun shining brightly. It was time to move out, so I packed my gear and took a rickshaw to the bus ...
... or catch a ferry to school. We marvelled at how people cope with so little space to move about-lots of space on the water, but precious little land-foreign to us, but I am sure quite pleasurable for them. Sleeping the second night was better and we were surprised at how quickly we docked and the ride was over. It was bittersweet to leave the pampering of the boat, the wonderful and amazing sights that the backwaters had to offer, but we looked forward to a good sleep!
Allepey, Kerala, India jasieniukrtwWe left Varkala and traveled by train in sleeper class, or poor mans class, two hours North to Alleppey. Alleppey is nicknamed the Venice of India by the Lonely Planet author due to its canals, but thats where the similarity ends. The LP author had clearly not really visited Alleppey or was (probably) drunk. But we had come here to organise a private 24 hour boat trip out into the surrounding wetlands and the canal ...
Alleppey, India coopertrooper... Given that we were already up until 6am, we decided to stay up in an attempt to help our bodies sleep cycles regulate themselves, so after a bit of liquid pep we were hitting the streets. The local coffee favorite is called Bru, and it's surprisingly good for an instant blend (Relax coffee purists). The girls went off to get fitted for custom Savaar Khamises, which is a popular tunic and pants combo worn by women throughout ...
Kottayam, Kerala, India mxharris... and people were just getting on with their everyday life. Washing themselves and clothes by the waters edge. It felt quite weird at one stage as we chugged slowly by a man taking a wash. He was fully lathered up and about 5 feet away from the boat and I didn't know whether to smile and wave or just pretend that I wasn't interrupting his bath. Imagine sitting in the bath at home and a few ...
Kottayam, Kerala, India frankoc... the promotion of health, happiness and peace to society, promoting sustainable development in order to prevent further deterioration of natural wealth. It's message is "The Greatest Pleasure in Life is Simple Living". The advert/ document we read made it sound really interesting and quite a big centre, but there was only Helen and i! we were supposed to think of our own idea/initiatives to teach children about simple living, by being at one ...
Kaipattoor, India limi07Hallow Last 5th may 2007 we went a family weekend trip to Alappuzha, Kerela from Trivandrum . The main intersting is with less crowd we were able to travel by boat from Kollam to Alappuzha. Though there is a high cost in boat fees we got a good friendship with co travellers. Particularly with Mr. Ian who came from UK. Regarding alappuzha ...
Alappuzha, Kerela., India raju0... get some french practice. We talked about religion, history, namely Marie Antoinette and William the Conqueror (!), French food, cinema, lifestyle, English and Italian food culture and lifestyle, religion, politics and of course India! It was like being back in a seminar again, talking about proper things (ie, not bowel movements) and forming coherent arguments in french. Kovalam was nice but a bit touristy and expensive, the restaurants were delicious and pricey and the shops were ...
