After a 2 hour ferry and about 7 hours bus ride, with a very creepy guy following me around the ferry and the bus, I finally made it to Punta del Este. A little town which is very popular for the surf and nightlife.Apparently even Hollywood stars come here.
I was a wandering around in this beautiful town and didn't realize how time had passed. Just like that I've been walking for 6 hours along the ocean, stopping for tiramisu ice cream (I am addicted!) and seeing the lighthouse in ...

... on the first one, the one he wasn’t sure would be open. It was called El Palenque, and we had a very nice dinner, with only a short walk back to the hotel afterward.

We managed to get photos and a small blog entry uploaded, which you’ve hopefully already seen, before it was midnight. Since we were getting picked up at 7:30 the next morning, we decided that was late enough.

He is a retired marine biologist from Toronto, originally South African, has spent time in Micronesia and the Pacific, diving and collecting specimens. This peninsula is very cosmopolitan.

the beaches are wide sandy beaches the water was too cold for my liking but we are on holidays so who cares. we walked the main shopping area "gorlero" which is over priced but you can find the hidden treasures if you listen to the locals. we took our hire car and headed for the "puerto" and had lunch at a Chiveteria overlooking the marina.

... I stumbled onto a convenience store. Bar the usual goods of biscuits, tinned goods and drinks; there were fried goods.
