Lance used to use this to train on just before the TDF each year and judge whether he was in form to win.

Hmm! I will keep a lookout for the US Postal team syringes at the start.

We will then head off to Monaco and the beaches west of here for some sight seeing and a swim.
Saturday we are off to the Pyranees.

... out but already i am tired of seeing pasta on the menu! So we decided to do Thai food at a highly trip advisory rated Thai restaurant called L'o ..the kids had plain butter pasta (lol) and I had a coconut curry soup and then scallops followed by a cafe au last.We then walked the fortress grounds and took in the most amazing view of vinyards and ancient houses. Glad we went back! Off to bed early tonight as we have a 7 am train to catch! Night night xoxo

... markets are in old Nice, and sell flowers and food, so we bought some delicious summer fruits and bread and headed up to the hill overlooking Nice for some gorgeous views and a picnic. Next stop was the Parade des Anglais - the main waterfront boulevard, which we wandered down but nearly expired in the 27 degrees heat. Scarily it was 34 deg in florence today-our next stop! The best cure we've found for the heat is lots of gelato and hours on the beach. We stick out a bit ...

... Bay on Sydney Harbour... Driving into the municipality of Monte Carlo (with its police force clearly on show at the entry point) the evidence of wealth went up to a whole new level. Every luxury brand seemed to be represented with a magnificent city centre shop front - Maserati, Rolls Royce, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci etc. The streets and buildings looked very well maintained as though no expense had been spared. ... cut across two lanes to
turn right, and stalled the car midway thru an intersection - all within
20 minutes of leaving the hotel. After that it was clear sailing along
the freeway.

For awhile we headed south parallel with the Alps. We could just make out the snow capped peaks through the haze. Pity the air pollution was so bad, it would have made for a spectacular drive.
