... dominated by the train station. It handles 1 million passengers a year (many are students), roofing slate and scrap metal from the adjacent steelworks. The result is ugly, maybe reflective of the fact that until 2002 it was managed by military railway engineers! It reminds me of Newcastle or Woollongong circa 1970.
We can see Mont Blanc from our roof and plan to get closer to it ...

... to buy fresh pain from the Boulangerie. When we first arrived, it was dark at 7am whereas now the sun is up well before then and doesn't set until about 6:45pm.

... all that way, only to turn back! We also came across an amazing adventure course in this forest, with ropes, ladders, swings and bridges high in the forest canopy. Susa Italy was a very cute little town nestled in a valley halfway between Briancon and Turin. We did not spend much time there but since it was the destination of our carpool, we decided to check it out before continuing to Turin. We went to a local restaurant and ate some pizza, and wandered the streets a little bit before heading to the train station.

The forecast was correct - sunshine and clear blue skies after three days of poor visibility and high winds! Our plans was to do two peaks in one day. Turns out that was a bit ambitious as, after the snowfall of the previous two days, there was a risk of avalanches which meant the top slopes were out of bounds until the all clear was given.
