Still it felt great to be in a real town after several days of remote wilderness. We had a private room at the hotel and a pizza and wine dinner at a nearby restaurant. We could finally check email and go to an ...

Leaving the refuge the next morning we passed a memorial to a half dozen US fliers who had died on the mountain nearby during WWII when their bomber crashed into the mountain. Some of their remains remained frozen in ice till the 1970's when they were returned to the US for burial.

A really steep uphill this morning that seemed to go on forever but was probably three and half ...
