We had a crazy busy day today with a trip with Aldo DV up the mountain to above Viano in Switzerland to see Nonno and Bobs old houses. This was a grand trek of switch back roads and scary drops but Aldo took it in his stride and we arrived safe above the snow line to admire sweeping vies of the mountains and valleys and breath taking vistas of far away cabins. It was fine this morning after some rain overnight so after breakfast we went with Nonna Lucia to the bakery. Joe insisted on buying something to contribute for lunch so we purchased some sparkling wine that we thought was expensive when we selected so I handed over $50 euro and the lady said no, something smaller...it ended up being $5 for two bottles much to my amusement. We wandered about for a short while checking out the posh hotels and the horses ...
... of fizzy water from the busy soda stream in the corner. We ate off a large table covered in a table cloth with lots of chairs and a bench. Nonno Lucia has her kitchen outside at the rear of the garage as the old style of cooking with a lot of butter and in large amounts is better outside due to the fumes and she has a wood stove for making polenta that I feel sure I will see a couple of times this weekend. This is all nestled quite comfortably in the laundry next to the washing ...
