Today was the final day of our tour, but sadly we could not hike due to pouring rain. Luckily we are at a nice hotel in an actual town (Charmonix) which is a good place for a day off. We've all been relaxing Ryan on his phone and I spending an enjoyable day reading on the kobo. Mom and dad have just been walking around. That ...

... by a challenge we headed up to the glacier. It took about an hour and at the Chalet, we stopped and had lunch - great salad made fresh from the owners garden with goat cheese from the town we had just left. Delicious! As we had come a different route, we had to continue climbing up to Les Grand Dessus and then traverse around the mountain to the col de Balme. This all took a lot longer than originally planned, but we finally made it to the col. We had ...

Spent the night in Trient - not exactly the same quality of hotel or view from my window as before, but the constant cow bells were a nice change.. don't these things sleep? The high point will be the Col de Balme which is supposed to have a funky restaurant for lunch... -- ...

This morning was an early start (6 AM) to catch the TGV train to Geneva. We had to take the metro to Paris Lyon, where we bought lunch for on the train, and then caught it to Switzerland. It was a bit slower than the Eurostar and took around 4:30. Otherwise it all went smoothly though. Once in Geneva, we caught the tram to CERN, the end of the line, and were slowly transferred ...

... 3rd and final cable car ascent of the day: Grands-Montets at 3300m. As we stood in a line of 5 people, we read a sign saying the last cable car departs at 4pm. It was 4.10pm.,. Luckily, we were allowed up but had to ensure we got the last car back down at 4.45pm. Otherwise we would have a long walk downhill. Another magnificent view. On top of the world!! We jumped in the car and drove an hour down the road to Geneva. Switzerland, our 6th country ...
