... amazed by the view from the train. We walked up the steep hill, with our bags, to our hotel and were shocked that we had an amazing view from our balcony. Wengen was amazing, we looked around the small, but fun town and got to see some cool things. For dinner, we had an amazing meal at our hotel and were able to talk with an extremely nice ...

... under my waterproof - windproof pants (1st time since Northern Norway). It was an effort to convince the males to NOT go in shorts... but eventually convinced them.

Was a bit worried about altitude sickness, being lifetime sea-levelers... but we'd arrived the night before so had slept at nearly 800m and I logicked that we should be right for the hike at Eigergletscher at 2320m if we took it nice and slow. Still we followed the rules and ...

... s when my fear really peaks, we're at jumping height now...

The door swings open, he tells me to put my foot on the rails, I feel like I should have been frozen in fear at this exact instruction, but it never happens, I'm calmer now than I was going through the instructions a minute ago, I'm outside now, I lean forward to drop but he hasn't finished counting down yet and is still holding on to the helicopter, I barely see his fingers countdown as we let go ... ...

... pastures and all surrounded by the spectacular mountains. The trail was a bit of a challenge as it was quite steep (at least it was going down) and had a lot of loose rocks. You had to concentrate on where you put your feet as it was quite easy to slip or trip.

It took us over 2 hours to get down, but by then the gondola had shut for the evening. So, now how to get back up to Murren...we were NOT going to hike back up and there are no roads ...

DAY 10 We boarded an early morning train from Brescia, Italy towards the spectacular alpine village of Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. We arrived in Lauterbrunnen with our jaws agape, marveling at the incredible scenery, just in time to find one of the last available "cheap" rooms in town ($150... ouch!). We quickly caught a shuttle bus to Trummelbach Falls, a series of ten cascading falls eroded into a narrow, twisting, almost enclosed limestone gorge in the cliff above ...
