... Ok, Phillip at the keyboard now. The Col de Tourmalet is one of the more well known long climbs in the TdF (17.1km at 7.3% with a number of sections at 10%). Lucky that I changed my gearing on the bike the night before leaving. The strangest thing about nearly all climbs in France is that they are open range grazing pastures. Today we are leaving Mt Ventoux and Mum and Dad surprised us by taking us to GAP to watch the finish of the Tour De France Stage 16.

We drove past the "Devil" on our way into town but had to keep going as they were about to close the road.

We were right on the finish line, under the big screen. It was so hot.

... chefs in the hotel car park so we went over and watched the mechanics fix and clean the bikes. When we left we saw Contador having tea with a mate outside.

On the motorway Mum realised she had booked our hotel in Sainte Maxime for the wrong year. So we decided to head home an extra 100kms! We got home at 11.30pm and were so tired we didn't bother unpacking the car we just went inside to bed.
