After a whistle stop tour of what felt like most of Turkey, we decided to have a few days off from sightseeing and go and sit on the beach. So we hopped on a bus and headed to Bulgaria where we planned to do not very much just north of Varna on the Black Sea coast. It was on the way to Romania (our next stop), so nice and handy.

... shocked, no one does this for fun.

In a tiny village called Kranevo we came across a lovely looking rustic wooden hotel with an equally nice restaurant in the garden. We let the owner choose our meal we asked for typical Bulgarian dishes and it was all great including the Bulgarian Rakia, a cross between gin and vodka. The urban dictionary says 'extremely alcoholic Bulgarian drink, one shot is enough to raise your forehead ...
