After a slightly restless nights sleep in the jungle due to the copious amounts of bugs and intense heat I awoke to the chorus of Emma, Tom and Beav singing Happy Birthday to me and a lovely little handmade card. Eager to begin the celebrations we checked out of our jungle lodge and headed to the 5 star resort in Placencia that Tom had booked for a …
So far one of the highlights of the Groupon deals we bought for this trip is the free breakfast and this Groupon surpassed the others because it was not a buffet. Instead, we got to order as many things as we wanted off the menu for free. We indulged ourselves in a fruit platter, an omelette, a panini, 2 coffees, 2 espressos, and a cappuccino. And …
However, one caught my eye in particular as it looked more like a fortress or a castle than a home. My guess is that it is owner by a drug dealer.
We have been without WiFi for a few days so are just going to relax here for a few days before catching the ferry across to Honduras. By ferry I mean a small boat that looks like it should hold no more than 10 people but apparently has a capacity of about ...
... had an awesome job at the phone company in Belize ( a very high paying job, stable and extremely sought after position). They had a house etc. Two weeks after his 10th year anniversary at the phone company he quit his job, they sold their house, and he started pioneering with his wife. They have been pioneering now for 3 years together. They told us how it was the best thing they ever did. Their marriage is ...
... as if riding a horse. We considered that it might be best to not drive the truck for another three hours…but only temporarily! With that, and the burst tyre, I’m amazed we made it there in time, but make it we did! It was great to hear about other work being done through Belize, meet some other people and institutions, and generally be in that learning environment again. And James treated me to a nice lunch out! Our science director gave ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Chabil Mar Placencia
I have taken four trips to Belize over the past year on the advice of friends who told me I'd love it. I did love it. Over and over again. The true, unspoiled gem of the country is definitely Placencia, in the southern part of the country. Here I was able to completely unwind at Chabil Mar Villas. After staying one night at another local resort, I came across Chabil Mar. The grounds were AMAZING, lush and tropical. Beautiful pools and the Carribbean were just a few steps from my room, my view was fantastic,. The staff set up wonderful tours for me with the best and most knowledgeable guides I'd ever had. Every moment was exactly as I hoped it would be. Placencia offers everything you could want in a trip to Belize, stunning beaches, rainforest adventures and most importantly, the feeling that you truly are "away".
Rently visited Placencia Belize and stayed at the Chabil Mar Villas. Very relaxing and fun vacation. Palcencia has so much to offer: Excellent Diving, Beaches, restaurants (try French Connection), mountains and Mayan culture.
My family and I recently stayed at Chabil Mar Villas in Placencia, Belize. What an absolutely gorgeous property! Where to begin describing this beautiful development.........The grounds were beautifully landscaped and maintained; the 2 infinity pools were so inviting; the beach was a dream come true; the pier was a favorite spot of ours and always had a cool breeze; we got spoiled by using the food service to have meals wherever we desired; and our condo (unit # 11) was more than we could have hoped for. It had windows galore with beautiful views from each. The kitchen was great with lots of marble and granite and gorgeous cabinets. With 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths, we all had room to spread out and enjoy our stay. The village of Placencia was within walking distance, but we chose to use golf carts for transportation. We talk of returning soon to this tropical paradise.
My family and I stayed at Chabil Mar for a week in mid August of this year. It was our first time traveling to Belize and our first time traveling out of the country with our two children (ages 2 and 6). We could not have picked a better location for our trip. We stayed in Villa 20, which was a second floor, two-bedroom villa. The furnishings were beautiful with woods used in the kitchen cabinets and bar stools that I have never even seen before. It was gorgeous. The kitchen and living area was a combined room, had plenty of space for a family of four and was very tastefully decorated. We truly felt as though we were staying at a friend's house on the beach.
I have visited Placencia, Belize twice and have stayed at Chabil Mar Villas. I love the location. The property is exquisity appointed and lushly landscaped. Every Villa has either a Caribbean front or view with a private deck. There are only 22 Villas which creates a very intimate and private atmosphere.
I recently visited Belize for the 2nd time and stayed at the beautiful Chabil Mar Villas. The grounds are lush and tropical ( hummingbirds greeted me each morning ), the rooms are exquisitely appointed ( gorgeous granite counters, rich, dark mohogany cabinets, unique spanish tiles, AMAZINGLY comfortable, plush featherbeads.....everything was stunning. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, and offered many helpful ideas about what to do while in Placencia. The evenings were lovely as the grounds were lit with soft glowing torches. Whether I spent time on my veranda, in the pristine infinity pools, or just had a glass of wine on the pierside cabana, every moment was perfect.
We stayed at Chabil Mar at the end of busy season - there was only one other room occupied during our stay. We had lots of personalized attention; the staff is terrific. The pools are lovely. The food was great. We ate our breakfast on the lovely dock under a palapa. Once we were done with our meal, we jumped right into the beautiful blue-green water.
Loved the charm and beauty
The most beautiful oceanfront luxury resort we have been to in years.
The views are magnificent, the rooms and Villas tastefully decorated, friendly
staff, and charming atmosphere.
I heartily agree with Kristine. We LOVED Chabil Mar. This property was recently completed and the secret will soon be out. It's charming with a fantastic location right on the beach. All the amenities- ceiling fans, AC, plush mattresses and tasteful furniture. The kitchen and washer/dryer make your vacation easy and convenient. Perfect for families with children.
Chabil Mar was Great
I just returned from a week at Chabil MAr Villas in Placencia with my husband, our 2 year old and our 10 month old. We loved it. They are brand new, luxury villas with everything you would want and need. Full kitchen, washer and dryer etc. There are 2 beautiful infinity pools, great food served wherever you might want to enjoy it and the friendliest staff. It is a bit quiet there but it is right next door to Turtle Inn so we went there for massages, diving program etc. I hope to return there again next year on our vacation although I think it will get harder to book on such short notice as people discover this gem.
