Placencia Paradise
So far one of the highlights of the Groupon deals we bought for this trip is the free breakfast and this Groupon surpassed the others because it was not a buffet. Instead, we got to order as many things as we wanted off the menu for free. We indulged ourselves in a fruit platter, an omelette, a panini, 2 coffees, 2 espressos, and a cappuccino. And …

My reason for being in Placencia was for the inaugural Marathon / Half Marathon (http://runbelize.org/index.html?m). As I've not been for a jog since Queens' Park four weeks ago, I opted for the Half option, and hoped for the best.

... day at the YWCA I really wondered what I had gotten myself into. The girls were pretty intimidating since they spoke Kriol (so I missed many conversations) and always seemed to be talking back to teachers. However, I really got to know them, formed relationships, caught on to Kriol, and now miss them so much. I had no interest in teaching before this experience, but now I have a developed a strong love for kids and am considering teaching as a career. Hmmm. Though, I also want ...
Historical Traveler Reviews Chabil Mar Placencia
Best In Belize
I have taken four trips to Belize over the past year on the advice of friends who told me I'd love it. I did love it. Over and over again. The true, unspoiled gem of the country is definitely Placencia, in the southern part of the country. Here I was able to completely unwind at Chabil Mar Villas. After staying one night at another local resort, I came across Chabil Mar. The grounds were AMAZING, lush and tropical. Beautiful pools and the Carribbean were just a few steps from my room, my view was fantastic,. The staff set up wonderful tours for me with the best and most knowledgeable guides I'd ever had. Every moment was exactly as I hoped it would be. Placencia offers everything you could want in a trip to Belize, stunning beaches, rainforest adventures and most importantly, the feeling that you truly are "away".
Relaxation at it's Best
Rently visited Placencia Belize and stayed at the Chabil Mar Villas. Very relaxing and fun vacation. Palcencia has so much to offer: Excellent Diving, Beaches, restaurants (try French Connection), mountains and Mayan culture.
The best part of our vacation was the Chabil Mar Villa Complex!! Beautifully decorated Villas located right on the beach with great ammenities. They have 2 large relaxing infinity pools, a palapa (grass-covered dock) that we regularly sat on and were served breakfast and later in the day drinks, great beach and lots of activities offered. Their service was outstanding from wait staff, housekeeping to the front desk!! They also offered golf carts to take a short ride into the cute village!!
I did not want to come home and can not wait to get back to Placencia's Chabil Mar Villas!!!
Tropical paradise in Placencia
My family and I recently stayed at Chabil Mar Villas in Placencia, Belize. What an absolutely gorgeous property! Where to begin describing this beautiful development.........The grounds were beautifully landscaped and maintained; the 2 infinity pools were so inviting; the beach was a dream come true; the pier was a favorite spot of ours and always had a cool breeze; we got spoiled by using the food service to have meals wherever we desired; and our condo (unit # 11) was more than we could have hoped for. It had windows galore with beautiful views from each. The kitchen was great with lots of marble and granite and gorgeous cabinets. With 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths, we all had room to spread out and enjoy our stay. The village of Placencia was within walking distance, but we chose to use golf carts for transportation. We talk of returning soon to this tropical paradise.
Paradise
My family and I stayed at Chabil Mar for a week in mid August of this year. It was our first time traveling to Belize and our first time traveling out of the country with our two children (ages 2 and 6). We could not have picked a better location for our trip. We stayed in Villa 20, which was a second floor, two-bedroom villa. The furnishings were beautiful with woods used in the kitchen cabinets and bar stools that I have never even seen before. It was gorgeous. The kitchen and living area was a combined room, had plenty of space for a family of four and was very tastefully decorated. We truly felt as though we were staying at a friend's house on the beach.
Both bedrooms were a very nice size and very comfortable. The closet space and furniture in the bedrooms was more than adequate to store our belongings. Both bathrooms were of equal size and were tastefully done, although neither bathroom had a tub which would have been helpful to us in needing to bathe a sandy 2-yr-old!
The grounds at Chabil Mar are fabulous! The infinity pools are amazing and there is very little distinction to the eye between floating in the pool and gazing at the Carribean Sea just ahead...it was like swimming in a postcard. The grounds were superbly maintained, the plantings were gorgeous and the outdoor grill and fire pit area were so enjoyable. The kids loved roasting marshmallows outside at night.
Although the village is little more than a 15 minute walk, the rental of golf carts was a fantastic idea and added to the relaxation and ease of our trip. If we needed juice or milk or any other amenity from town, it was a 5 minute trip on the golf cart....probably the kids favorite part!
Every morning at 6:30 I saw the staff arrive and begin to clean the beach and pools. Every day it was attended to and beautiful before the sun even rose. Our waiter and ancillary staff during our visit were all very warm, friendly and professional. In particular, our maid was awesome. By the time we left my children were hugging Gloria goodbye! She was friendly, kind, warm and did an amazing job in keeping our villa beautiful and allowing me to take a break from some of my daily chores.
We ate several meals at several different locations on the grounds and each meal was more delicious than the next. All of the ingredients were fresh and cooked just perfectly...they even catered to some of my daughter's special requests! The portions were quite large and as delicious as it was, we found ourselves never being able to complete a full meal.
This is a fantastic vacation destination and i would highly recommend the Villas to anyone traveling to this area...couples, families, it's just perfect. You really feel like you're in an isolated part of the world.
Private and Easy Access by Beach Walk to intriguing Placencia Village
I have visited Placencia, Belize twice and have stayed at Chabil Mar Villas. I love the location. The property is exquisity appointed and lushly landscaped. Every Villa has either a Caribbean front or view with a private deck. There are only 22 Villas which creates a very intimate and private atmosphere.
In my first visit to Placencia I learned the hard way that the road to the north of the Placencia Airstrip is a dirt road and that most upscale accomodations/villas are on that northern strip of road. Chabil Mar Villas is south of the airstrip, between it and the Village along a paved road. This also means that walking along the beach to the Village is another wonderful benefit and experience that Chabil Mar Villas' location makes possible.
I loved the staff and with a kitchen and bar on the premises for the exclusive use of the Chabil Mar Villa guests, I could get any meal served to me in my villa, on my private deck, at the pool or on the pier. The kitchen and bar are not open to the public so it is so very private and peaceful!
At Chabil Mar Villas I found all the best that a beautiful villa and wonderful Belizian Caribbean Village has to offer.
Incredible vacation
I recently visited Belize for the 2nd time and stayed at the beautiful Chabil Mar Villas. The grounds are lush and tropical ( hummingbirds greeted me each morning ), the rooms are exquisitely appointed ( gorgeous granite counters, rich, dark mohogany cabinets, unique spanish tiles, AMAZINGLY comfortable, plush featherbeads.....everything was stunning. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, and offered many helpful ideas about what to do while in Placencia. The evenings were lovely as the grounds were lit with soft glowing torches. Whether I spent time on my veranda, in the pristine infinity pools, or just had a glass of wine on the pierside cabana, every moment was perfect.
Placencia is a world away from the usual "tropical getaways". The little town is diverse and friendly...no tacky t-shirt shops, no high rises, no Planet Hollywoods....just natural beauty and locals that treat tourists like family.
Wonderful stay
We stayed at Chabil Mar at the end of busy season - there was only one other room occupied during our stay. We had lots of personalized attention; the staff is terrific. The pools are lovely. The food was great. We ate our breakfast on the lovely dock under a palapa. Once we were done with our meal, we jumped right into the beautiful blue-green water.
The suite was amazing. It was huge, a full living room with dining area, a kitchen I envied and a large bedroom with a four-poster bed - and even a washer/dryer! We were thankful for that since we were at the end of our 2 week tour of Belize and didn't want to go home with filthy clothes. We were exhausted by the time we got to Placencia and we loved staying at the resort and not having to do much. We could get wonderful food from the kitchen, use the wireless internet and take a nice walk into town.
We loved using the pedalboat to see some of the coast, although the wind was kicking up some waves and making it a little tougher than we thought!
Loved the charm and beauty
The most beautiful oceanfront luxury resort we have been to in years.
The views are magnificent, the rooms and Villas tastefully decorated, friendly
staff, and charming atmosphere.
Loved it!
I heartily agree with Kristine. We LOVED Chabil Mar. This property was recently completed and the secret will soon be out. It's charming with a fantastic location right on the beach. All the amenities- ceiling fans, AC, plush mattresses and tasteful furniture. The kitchen and washer/dryer make your vacation easy and convenient. Perfect for families with children.
It IS quiet and private, which I see as a plus. The lively little town of Placencia is only a mile away, and yes there is Turtle Inn right next door. (BTW, you don't have to go to Turtle Inn for a massage, as Chabil Mar can bring an excellent masseuse right to your room). Also, be assured that you will eat better and more deliciously at Chabil Mar than at Turtle Inn. The Chabil Mar kitchen will deliver meals right to your apartment and you can eat inside, on your porch or even at the end of their dock!
The Chabil Mar staff are lovely, pleasant people who bend over backwards to help with any need- kudos to Maisie, Elvina, Alison and Dennis among others!

Chabil Mar was Great
I just returned from a week at Chabil MAr Villas in Placencia with my husband, our 2 year old and our 10 month old. We loved it. They are brand new, luxury villas with everything you would want and need. Full kitchen, washer and dryer etc. There are 2 beautiful infinity pools, great food served wherever you might want to enjoy it and the friendliest staff. It is a bit quiet there but it is right next door to Turtle Inn so we went there for massages, diving program etc. I hope to return there again next year on our vacation although I think it will get harder to book on such short notice as people discover this gem.
