... it's not very much time at all.

A few hours later, half-way into the journey, we stopped somewhere random and I have no idea where it was, but I took my bags into the bus company's office to wait for the connecting bus to Ko Tao. I had about forty-five minutes and was starving, so wasted no time in going next door to a handily-placed cafe and had a lovely and cheap green curry with some rice. Then the next bus arrived, and we commenced the remaining five ...

By now, the mozzies seem to have had all they could take of Dean, but are still quite happily munching on Michelle! It was hot...damn hot, and humid, making the 2km hike seem to ...
Surat Thani, Thailand deanandmichelle... the end, we didn't even eat our breakfast because the beautiful landscape excited us and we all took the cameras out. Traveling is just like this, it has so many unexpected moments that would leave footprints in our heart. I breathed in the fresh morning air and I feel the pure love and happiness from being in the present set in. Friend at Krabi We all met Ae, a friend of Pan who took us around town. First, for our breakfast, he ...

We were picked up last (obviously as our hotel was on the way out), the mini-van was full, A.D. and I jumped in the front of the van alongside the driver. Me, squeezed in-between A.D., our day bags and the driver with no seat belt, was really loving life here. And the rest of our mini ...
Surat Thani, Thailand katd... Jeff a bit over the "what am I doing here" edge but we got through it. Soon there was another rumbling, another buzzing, and our delayed train arrived. The inside of the 2nd class sleepers, while not as private as those on European trains, was surprisingly clean and modern. It was a bit submarine-like but a train in any form is better than a chickenbus. I fell asleep quickly and with a smile on my face, rocked gently by the car and rolling ...
Phun Phin, Thailand sirrocko711Alright this day kinda sucked to be honest. We slept in just long enough to miss both the morning boat and the noon one, with the next departure not until 3pm. This would cause us trouble later but provided a good excuse for aimless wandering in the meantime. After buying our ferry tickets and securing our backpacks, I left Jeff glued to a TV watching the Olympics while I bandied about town pigging out on more fruity crepes. In some freak act of clumsiness, I flipped ...
Surat Thani, Thailand sirrocko711... back into the monkey temple area our vehicle was surrounded by these creatures! Tui broke out the bananas and we each were able to feed them. For being wild, I was surprised at how close they came to us (well, we did have a big bunch of bananas in hand!!) Back at our "resort", Sara and I had a new friend waiting outside our door - a little dog that was blind in one eye. He must have been our guardian dog as he ...
Surat Thani, Thailand tias_travels... sense of humour gave us dhamma talks most days. Cut through any **** and gave us the essence of Buddhist teaching in very entertaining way. Challenged most of the traditional Buddhist beliefs and encouraged us not to believe anything, but look for the essence and try things out for ourselves. Looked like skeletor, didn't open his eyes much during talks. Would get side-tracked and start reminiscing of cigars and whiskey, giant elephant poo and dogs ...
Surat Thani, Thailand jclsOn monday afternoon I was off on my long journey south the Malaysia. I hadnt really planned to go to malysia- but.... 1. my thai visa was to expire on the 2nd of Dec, so I had to leave 2. I felt I needed some relaxation time after Bangkok- and after Malaysia I could head over to Ko Mook in southern Thailand. I got my bus ticket (900B) and waited until my 6oclock departure time. Along the way I met a humorous canadian (arent they all) named Maranda and ...
Surat Thani, Thailand clb2112Today we did nothing. Woke up, ate something, wandered to the beach, sat there for like 5 hours in the water, showered, ate dinner, and went out to a pub. It's amazing how a day passed without anything to show for it. I guess relaxation and chilling out -- which I've been trying to avoid the entire trip -- aren't so bad as I thought. But only for a day. Tomorrow we gotta move somewhere.
