We drive to Aphrodisias, site of the temple of Aphrodite. The site is beautiful, in the country side with many of the columns still standing, and no crowds. I visited a photographer's shop. He had pictures of some of the statues, and photos of the village that had been on the site. People were living among the ruins. ... one can absorb so after a couple of hours we strolled along the seafront to the harbour and had very pleasant lunch watching the tourist boats come and go. Having said tourists, we hardly saw a European one all day; May is definitely a good time to come.
