I am sitting in Lisa and Helena's kitchen enjoying a cup of strong caffe watching the rain. We are planning our grocery shopping, prep and cooking time table for thanksgiving dinner in Saturday. It's Italy.... It doesn't matter what day one celebrates turkey day.

We had a nice overnight trip in a small town called Norcia. ...

... some very colorful Italian made cups and saucers. Not necessarily an Italian design, but fun! (See pic)

Tonight Helena is cooking a Moroccan chicken and vegetable stew in a tagine. This is a conical shaped dish that slow cooks the food and doubles as a serving dish. Sounds yummy!

      Having fun.

There are still beautiful autumn colours here with golden beech forests on each side of the road. We ...

      ... 15 feet deep.

This is the Borgia coat of arms, set into the facade of the fortress after Cesare captured it in 1500. Incredibly it is left unprotected and unremarked except in the following small piece of provenance.

Part of the provenance reads that it was built beginning in 1380, and completed to its largest size in 1471 by Piro Ordelaffi, a relative of Caterina's. "Ten years later, Gerolamo Riario had the fortress completed with the moat and ...

... very top of the rock and you can actually see the Croatian Coast on a clear day. Magnificent views in each direction. Then down to the Basilica which was just gorgeous. White walls with Apple green and duck egg blue colours in the florets. The most beautiful church I have seen. Made even more special as a lady was singing from the balcony beside the organ. Scott and Mikaela then ...
