... about 1 hour on the boat. There is residential along the shoreline and half way up the mountain most of the way around the lake, the further we get away from Como although it begins to thin out and clear townships can be seen.

Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.
... It ended up being a winding road up the mountain curving around the entire thing. What we thought would take about 10 minutes, probably took a half an hour. However, we finally arrived at the castle, which was beautiful and had amazing views as well.

Ahhhh Bella Italia!! Upon arriving in Milan, I have to admit though, we were questioning where the bella Italia we remembered had gone! On first appearance, Italy's fashion and design capital really wasn't that beautiful! In fact, we thought it quite grey and grotty and drab! By the end of our 3 days there though, and with the aid of another awesome Use-It map, Milan definitely grew on us, and we found her hidden beauty.
