A day of cold and hot

Stranded in St Moritz

I had the normal Swiss breakfast which seems to consist of bread, rolls and cold meats and cheese. One thing they seem to offer for the bread is chocolate spread but they never seem to have butter!! Do the Swiss not eat such things as butter??

After a few more photos from the cliff edge I finally decided it’s time to make tracks and so I boarded the car back down to base station at Andermatt. Stepping out of the cable car the warm temperature suddenly hits you. It’s not really that warm but being use to the cold at the top makes it seem warm back here at base.

What a journey
Left castelrotto bus to Bolzano, showery only so good for travel. Bolzano by train to merano then train to mals. This was a 2carriage train massive windows even bigger than normal regional trains. Beautiful country looking at forts, castles, snow, alps. Then postal bus from mals to zermez Switzerland. It is known for travelling through 3countries over high mountains then into valley. Sondrio, Tirano and the Bernina Express
A well catered breakfast by the hosts saw us well fed for the few hours we had in Vareenna prior to heading off to Sondrio to drop the car off. Varenna is settled at the foot of Lake Como and wow what a fantastic view of the lake and mountains you get - it really is a beautiful town and we are now regretting the too short time we have here.
