... and headed out the backside of the mall to discover a jazz festival! Though the singer we heard was pretty good, the set in itself was a little bland and we lost interest.
Though we had hoped to go the zoo, we missed the last bus out there, so we headed back to the hotel in defeat. After a few hours recharching and napping, we decided to strike out and the beer festival we had heard so much about. We found it ...
... We found it funny at first, but it quickly became awkward and then rude and then just plain obnoxious. We wandered further down the park.
And stumbled upon the coolest playground equipment in the history of the human race. First we found a super slick black marble slide, and next we found a huge hill of concrete made for running up and sliding down. Several small children found us quite ...

During the war, Isamu was set to a concentration camp.
After the war, he submitted his design for the Hiroshima Dome Museum, but his work was denied because he was "American".
One side he was accused to be Japanese, and the other side he was denied because he was American. I can only imagine how he was thinking of his own identity.
However, he ...
... existence and contributions. A small town of Nibutani (Biratori) still has many populations of Ainu. At the bus stop, I was asked where I came from from an older lady. I said, "Hawaii". She just told me "thank you for coming all the way from Hawaii. It must be really cold here for you". It's summer, but yeah, it was a bit chilly for me. Then we headed for the Clock Tower, which is one of Japan's top 3 'gakkari' (disappointing sights), as apparently in all the brochures, the background buildings (which dwarf it) are airbrushed out to make it look more impressive. Still, as Sapporo is such a modern city, it was impressive to see a building still there from the 1800s. Then walked to the Botanical ...
Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan chrisharrison... million people! After leaving the clock tower, we came across a bakery with the most expensive cakes and ice-cream creations we have ever seen. There was one behemoth sundae there that cost over 10,500 Yen (around $105)! This thing must feed about 10 people -- I can't imagine the gut ache one would have trying to eat it alone! From here we went back to Odori Park and bought corn from a street ...
Sapporo, Japan schwinkle... We all just went to town on that lamb and beer, and had so much fun. We were giving speeches, talking in broken Japanese to our neighbors and waiters and creating tons of general hoopla. Video to come soon... We still have 2 full days here... It's going to be awesome here. But the smell of Mutton may linger... I apologize in advance to anyone who may have to smell me in the near future.
