      ... and a few announcements and 20 minutes later we learned that the train had struck a deer. Once the line had been cleared we moved onwards but incredibly slowly. When we got to the next station we learned why we had been so slow, there was a problem with the brakes so we all had to leave the train and then wait on the platform for the next one.       ... We knew he was from New Zealand but come to find out he was actually raised in Japan by missionary parents, so he actually considers Japanese his first language. I'm not sure whose house we went to but Gerald told us that the parents were away and the son volunteered to have 30 or so of us over for curry rice. The son of course is probably in his 40's, so that was funny to hear. We did have to leave a little early since our ride back to the subway was leaving but it was a fun night. ...
