... 1,000 year old and 71m tall Buddha carved into the mountain side. After a long hike up, we turned the corner and were greeted by the profile of the enormous Buddha. We made our way down a very steep and winding staircase alongside the Buddha moving from head to gigantic toe. It's hard to describe the sheer size of the Buddha, but it really was incredible. So this Saturday I was invited to go to the graduation of the children that I taught. Many of them are complete darlings :)

I really wanted to go and so I got up at 7 to got to their graduation. The buses were running slightly late so I only got there on time, not early as I had planned.

We *did* happen upon an area that looked like it should have been bustling with people (especially for a Sunday) but, instead, was totally empty with chairs stacked on tables and wait staff looking bored.
