Good hotel to stay in for a night. Room was small but clean. Didn't get to explore the local area so not sure how good the location is. Staff were friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was the best part for me - lots of choice and all very tasty.

Ok accommodations but not very clean.. We didn't sleep comfortably. Wifi never really worked. Not worth $50 a night!

Bangkok - Meet the group in struggle street

Mid day arrival. Still in struggle street but different city. 2 hrs sleep on each plane in the past 48 hrs. Either way, struggle street in Bangkok is crazy, people trying to sell you stuff all the time. Massages to bracelets to tuk tuk's (carriage taxi's attached to motorbikes in Asia). Mental. I'd say there's a higher proportion of mopeds to cars …

    Meeting The Group

So today is the day I meet the tour group! Tomorrow we should be heading off to Cambodia! How freaking exciting is that!? Hopefully I can drop my bags off at the hotel we are all meeting at and then I can go and have another wander. Best news is that I got a decent nights sleep last night! Managed not to cough long enough to drop to sleep, so happy …

On day two in Bangkok we visited the Wat Phra Kaew, (Grand Palace with the Emerald Buddha), What Phra Chetuphon (Massive reclining Buddha) and Wat Arun. We actually were allowed to climb up these seriously steep steps to the upper part of Wat Arun which was really scary but we enjoyed the view of the lively traffic on the Mekong and the sprawling …

This was my second time to Bangkok. The first trip was some 10 years back, and I can't remember much.
Main purpose of my visit here was for a graduate conference which was held in Chulalongkong university in collaboration with two other universities (UM & NUS). Our stay for the first three nights and flight tickets were sponsored by the …
