      ... way to the waterfront. We have picked a bar/restaurant that has a wood fired pizza oven, and we are currently drinking beers while looking out over a beautiful little marina. It is very quiet - we really are at the end of tourist season. Most of the really big hotels and resort complexes are closed up until next summer. I'm sure most of the restaurants won't be far behind. A lot of the shops are empty and we've wondered ...

      Sardinia is divine...it reminds me of so many different things. The landscape is very beautiful and predominately made up of 3 colours: amazing, crystal clear glorious azure blue water, grey rugged granite hills and mountains and muted green shrubs. That's pretty much Sardinia. The architecture here is very different from anything else we have seen around Italy. It has a very Mexican/Spanish feel about it. ...

      ... but we are staying out of town about 30 minutes at a place called Porto Rotondo - evidently a little ritzy. Find the hotel with no problems and check in to find a full blown BIG FAT Italian wedding going on. It is the perfect cliche. Love it!! The hotel is delightful, driving in I felt like I could be convinced that I was in a spaghetti western and that Clintio Eastwoodio would ride out of the desert at any moment.       ... son swims 5kms a day at the beach. Other guest know adelaide from the grand prix. Lol.
      Back to our tabel out the front of the hotel for nightcaps.

      ... about the locals.
      Arrived in Santa Teresa di Gallura. Greated in half Italian and french by the 70 yearold lady who's father had started the hotel and restaurant in the town.
      Went for a walk to the high points, the marina and the chiesa.
      Got our bathers and walked to the beach. Refreshing, the water is so clear and azure blue.
