Another week had totally flown by and with it a lovely bout of tonsilitis and high fever! Lost my voice on Tuesday...which i just assumed was down to the shouting in my Tuesday 2.20 class which is always a struggle but then just got worse. So after having photographic, medical equipment shoved up my nose, ear and down my throat on Friday i was handed a lovely set of antibiotics! So in my wise ways i decided that going to Diana's friend ...

Class tonight was great! I think Thursday wins! It's my best class, plus I will only have one class on Thursdays, and it's listening, which is easier than reading. I'm now going on my second rounds of listening classes and I feel a lot better about them already. I am going to go running and eat dinner and then try to sleep tonight. I can't seem to fall asleep at normal hours.
Daegu, Korea Rep. brianna29... and have long black hair. I could see it being a very bad combo if I lived here. Especially waking up the next morning. After we finished partying around 5 am, we went and had (day-ge Gup Pap) I’m not sure how to spell it or even pronunciate it but its Pork Soup with Rice. It was the bomb. I need to ************* every time I get drunk. I had no hangover at ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. cwienkeThe Monday after my birthday weekend must rank as the lowest point of my time in Korea so far. Nothing in particular happened, but suddenly I just felt bored of being in a routine. I'd been in Korea exactly three months, and research suggested that this is prime culture shock territory. The newness and excitement has worn off, and you are now in a routine just like anywhere else. I gave it plenty of thought as usual, and concluded that I ...
Gyeongju, Korea Rep. richOK so I've been a bit reflective in the past week here as my time is coming to a close. Yes there are some things about this culture which vex me, make me crazy and generally leave me dumb-founded at times. The way that even the most beautiful of women smack their gum or slurp their soup, or the way that the have never heard of a line and will try and cut if you aren't paying attention, or the way that ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. j0rgeherter... Also, I have started and am almost done with a Taekuando class. This has probably been the most fun. Every Tuesday and Thursday a group of about 14 foreigners gather together to make complete asses of ourselves in front of our very Korean instructor. She loves us though, I hope. We are supposed to have a performance coming up at some hotel but I might have to sit out because for some reason I have a 12 inch bruise on my leg stretching from groin to knee. I have no idea ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. sjostrom... seemed very small and horrid! It stank of smoke (as the teacher before me smoked!). My heart sank and I couldnt imagine myself in this tiny room for a whole year! Off we went to my school. It turns out Im in a private all girls school. All girls are interesting, but it turned out to be fine! All my co-teachers are so sweet and helpful and made me feel right at home. That night I came home and unpacked, and soon my apartment started to feel ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. emyjane... and two other MoonKkang teachers, Mike and David. The initial climb was steep and the first thing noticed was that most hikers were much older. Any children who were dragged along were done so kicking and screaming. About a half hour into our hike we came upon a temple of some sort. We were surprised to find a Jeep had managed the steep ascent after joking that this must be where Land Rover filmed their commercials. While Mike and David explored the temple ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. rgiles... as possible - barely getting to stop and read the information signs posted everywhere. I did get to look over to North Korea though, and get another stamp in my passport. So I was happy! We also attended the Buddha Lantern Festival in Seoul to celebrate Buddha's birthday. And it was amazing! We managed to get a seat right at the beginning of the parade and after over 2 hours, the parade still wasn't finished! However, we had to run to catch ...
