... s until the bus arrived. We loaded the luggage and hopped ok board grabbing a row of seats each and placing bags around us like a fort so we could attempt to sleep! ... we didn't have to leave until 10 for our city tour and riding in the bus we didn’t get wet. First we drove to the top of Mt Victoria to get views of the city. The fog covered a lot of the city so picture taking was a problem but we could still see a lot. ... The upper house was abolished in 1951. Generally it seems that kiwi's are much happier with this political system as there is a much wider representation of parties in the Parliament. The solitude of South Island is certainly not the order of the day here in Wellington. It was a bit of a noisy night with dragon boat revellers, newly returned students, traffic and the fact that it was Saturday night.
