... trains right up to the shinkansen on exhibition... well, at least the front bit of the shinkansen. Most were interactive and you could enter most of the carriages. There was a large turntable in the centre of the room which demonstrated the way they rotated the trains. Unfortunately, we were on the third floor when it started and by the time we made it down, we had just missed it.

... upstairs had not been touched since the earthquake (almost a year ago), so we would stay at their house for the night and clean up the next day.
We did experience our first earthquakes in Japan. During the three weeks we were at the farm we experienced a dozen small earthquakes and tremors.
