... All sorts of dignitaries and reporters were on hand for the unveiling.

There were all sorts of artefacts and curios from the past 160 years, including the helmet shaped decorations that used to adorn the opening of a tunnel.

We had 3 hours at the museum, 2 of which was to look around and another hour for lunch. That was probably more than enough time for me.

We retraced our steps back to Tokyo Station. ...

And we're back online!

... equipment that had just gone on a rampage in the mud (see above). Brittany even made soba (buckwheat noodles) and served it to customers in our hosts' restaurant (I am sure it was quite the experience for the customers to have a waitress that did not know what you were ordering, luckily the restaurant only served soba).

Ok it's so, so late but I am going to try and write down what has happened so far... no doubt I'll miss heaps out and it may be months before I get to the actual living in Sapporo part of my story but hey, this is something!!
