Wednesday started cloudy and rainy so we had a lazy breakfast of hot croissants from the campsite restaurant - gorgeous! ... Italian pizza at the pretty campsite restaurant. We began to try and figure out all the words for various toppings in Italian from the menu .... We are not very good yet but the pizzas which arrived were all yummy anyway. After dinner we decided the coolness of the evening was a good time to attempt to erect the awning for the first time on the Big Trip. ... it was off the Motorway and up again into the Dolomites. It's strange passing all the skiing slopes in mid summer, especially the Olympic Ski Jumps. We also passed a massive Road Cycle Race, fortunately on the other side as the Peloton was huge and there was no way to get past it. After about an hour of driving through the mountains we reached the campsite at Campitello di Fassa. 194 Miles but still a 7 Hour drive, completed safely anyway. ...
... at the top we saw that the walking tracks zig zagged the train tracks through the countryside and many walkers were using the train to break or extend their routes. In hindsight a train ticket would have added even more to the day. There are 2 further cable cars that travel up to 2260m, which would be great to explore, but we begin cycling ...
