... hard work.

Whilst we waited for the first load of washing to finish, we sat in the lounge and Nat updated her journal whilst Chris started drawing a sketch of the beautiful kitchen/dining room.

When he presented his drawing to them as a gift, they put it up on the fridge – high praise indeed!

After we hung all our laundry out to dry, we headed into Imabari for a walk, fuelled by a sprig of cherries from Akiko's cherry ...

... The Dogo Onsen Honkan has two types of baths (each has one for men and one for women). One is called Kami-no-Yu (water of the Gods) which is the spacious public bath, and the second one is Tama-noyu (water of the spirits) which is more private and a higher grade bath. The Onsen also offers tea and snacks in lounges on the second level, and private rooms on the 3rd floor, with more food on offer, which you can use following your bath. We took a 2.5 hour ferry ride from Hiroshima to Matsuyama and felt like we were on a cruise. Very comfortable lounge seats with wide windows to enjoy the view. On the way we saw many islands, varying in size, most of them appeared to be deserted. Most of the islands are small mountains, with some having a sandy beach but probably not much area for building houses.
It was a very pleasant and relaxing trip.

WE ATE: - lunch at a really traditional Noodle bar where they cooked in clay pots and grabbed the noodles by hand out of the pot. -Botchan dangl sweets (3 different coloured balls of goo on a stick).
