Today is our LAST DAY at Nakayama! :( We just spent the morning packing up a bit and walking and lounging around as everyone was so tired from our last couple of big days. ... we headed over to our 2nd cousins house to make omochi, a Japanese New Years specialty. First you put streamed rice into a concrete pot and then add some water to it. You then smash it with the wooden hammer-like thing while constantly adding water until it makes kind of a gluey paste. This takes maybe 20 minutes.
