... for the morning and investigate the castle.

After nipping to Lawson for a quick breakfast of onigiri and pastry, we left the bags at our hotel and walked down to Matsuyama-jo.

It was a beautiful sunny day and we even saw the small steam train on the tram rails again, with passengers waving as they passed!

The hill up to the castle is pretty steep so you can either walk up or get the convenient ropeway to the top.

... bliss; a huge downhill stretch with no pedalling for ages. It was soooo good! There was a rose garden not far off the main track so we went there. Dave and Ben got their girlie on and we all were amazed by the range and colour of all the roses. It was a lovely garden and they were all in bloom. ... topped by a couple of statues. The structure had four fonts, and the water was 43 degrees C. It was hot!

As was the case last time, I had to wash thoroughly before entering the water - again in the nude but I will spare you any more details. The Onsen is set up with mirrors at each individual sink, which has its own hand-held shower. The stools are about 4 inches from the floor, which makes sitting gracefully a bit of a challenge (for me anyway).

... changed into not-real-money coins and after much discussion with the girl that worked there it transpired they couldn't be changed back into real money, or any other kind of gaming currency and the ones we had were only valid on one game - a fishing game.
