... bit of last-minute shopping before sitting down and going “Phew”! We were flying to Sydney with QANTAS with a brief stopover in Dubai and we were very impressed with the service on the QANTAS flight. But, OMG! that’s a long flight!

Finally, at about 7am (only 1 hour late), on Tuesday, 21 January, we landed at Kingsford Smith Airport in Sydney! After 10 months, 4 days we were back in Australia.

... enjoy some free time. There is a big wheel but I did not take a ride. They have these lovely swim-fountains or fountain-swimming pools, not deep, just to allow one to stay cool. Bougainvilleas grow all over the place, and I saw many Ibis birds.

... the shops for a few hours and stopped off at Coles on the way back to hostel, I'm such a numpty though as I brought bread, porridge and milk for breakfast but we get a free breakfast at the hostel! My first full day in Brisbane so carry on my routine of walking randomly in a direction and see what happens. ... keep going. Eventually, after a long and boring section round an army base and industrial area near the port, I found my way to Colmslie beach reserve. That felt like an achievement, and I explored a little, past some large Australians using the facilities to have barbecues (perfect!) and turned back, catching the riverboat back from Apollo Road.
