... life was social and busy, and things were just dandy. No doubt we could've kept walking to the same beat - but as friend once told me "change or the world will change for you". A promotion loomed at work, with prospects of career progression, flexibility and reward. A no brainer you might say? Without too much thought - we booked our trip home to sunny Qld!

Well if we wanted change - then change we got! Brisbane accepted our return with a muted ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia giz_and_hammersAfter being impressed with Sydney during my first two weeks abroad, I kept my enthusiasm in check on my way up to Brisbane. I assumed Sydney was the city to beat and that Brisbane is just an afterthough a few hours up the coast. My first week here has proven that notion to be way off base.
Brisbane is Australia's third city and is located at the halfway point on the east coast. It is situated among the bends of the Brisbane River, a wide and gently moving waterway that ...

I can't. :) well no worries hakuna matata.
Oh and of course I forgot my towel. woops
After the evening swim we went to a pancace house, and boy was it yummy! I took an american pancace with syrup, ice cream and whipped cream as well. not too shabby eigh? :D

Brisbane, New South Wales, Australia kikiblogtrot... Lasagne. Food and company (Finn, Andrina, Heening and his girlfriend Ruth) both top order. At one point we got what we thought was lost on the boat - the skipper proudly told us we weren't - we were only "geographically challenged". Loved that. Easter Sunday - The Big 3-4 Yup - I awake today not a day but a year older. 34 today. I don't really like telling people about my birthday - especially not those who've been so kind as to make me feel like a ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia codownsean... all at NCLS for that! We then saw Mahmood Khan Funk in concert and that was brilliant - very eclectic and with the most amazing band and backing singers. Sydney on a Saturday night is something else - absolutely buzzing although there was a thunderstorm while we were in the concert. The following day we flew to Brisbane and then had a four hour journey to Hervey Bay. We had time for a quick drink and then straight onto the boat ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia rosieehill... short showers which didn't cool the temperature at all but simply increased the humidity as we toured the zoo. Bryce and Kate had visited before but for the rest of us, for whom it was all new, were very impressed with the park and in particular with the quality of the infrastucture, where clearly no expense has been spared to produce excellent conditions for the animals and to give the punters a great day out. As we were ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia nickadams... a bright pink van, haha! There was one other guy (Al) with us and he was from LA. It turned out he was going to Fraser Island at the same time as us, and he also ended up being in our room. Once we got settled in the hostel, I walked to the beach with Al, then left him to go look in the shops... I bought Lisa a Christmas present, and then went back and lay on the beach until I had to go back to the hostel for the Fraser Island informational meeting.
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia mbradley... and a few other bits & bobs (including James' cufflinks which I borrowed for Milly's wedding, sorry mate!).

It was about A$70 to send the parcel home with a basic level of insurance, so hopefully everything will get home in one piece. (Pam/Ian - they said it would take approx 5 days so you should have it by end of next week, please let us know if you don't have it by then, thanks!)
<br ...
