What a neat city! We didn't have a great first impression, since the taxi that took us from the train station to the hostel tried to charge us the equivalent of $120 for a 7 minute cab ride in the Romanian currency (we ended up paying 10 euros which was like 5x too much anyways but better than 100!) Fortunately, things only improved from there, and we had only positive experiences with cab ...

Like any European city, we marvelled at the enormousness and detail of the churches. We went into a couple - one catholic and one orthodox. We also saw two of three synagogues in the city. ... average speed is low, around 40mph. We stretch the legs on the well-surfaced carriageways when we can and thunder on across the interminable plain.

There are hundreds of stalls selling melons along the route. There's rarely much of a pull-in for shoppers so we're often forced out to the tank tracks as we pass them by.

      ... you.

Highlight of the day for me was at the Hungary/Romania border, got asked for the bike docs by a Romanian border guard, I gave him an A4 receipt from the hotel in Brno (Written in English) he had a good look and than passed it back with a cheery "Thanks"
