One of the most valuable things I learned from my beloved hula teacher when I was younger was the Hawaiian value of Kuleana, which means Responsibility. Native Hawaiians have a kuleana to pass on the dying Hawaiian tradition to each succeeding generation.

I have a super basic room to myself with a VERY clean bathroom, so after a few days of constant socializing it's nice to spend the night alone! I fell asleep on the bus this afternoon, which I've never done before, so it'll do me good to have a nice quiet sleep and spend some time figuring out where to go ...

Made my way to Bredco Port from where you can catch either 'fastcraft' passenger ferries direct to Iloilo City on Panay or slower RORO ferries to Dumangas about 20km north of Iloilo. As the fastcraft cost 270 peso for the 1hr trip which i thought was rather expensive i decided to take the RORO ferry for 90 peso instead. It took 1hr 40mins and ...

The vegetables might have organ meat mixed in and it took repeated blunders before we realized the chunks of 'pineapple' in the pork dishes are always pure pig fat that we had no appetite for, but still we made it work. The street food was pretty gruesome, we'll give them credit for not wasting animal parts, but chicken intestines coiled on a skewer weren't remotely tempting, and the rest only slightly more so.
