          ... has a basic bike with hand brakes. Very serious about locking up their bikes though. The bike locks weight about 5 lbs with huge chain links. Biked around the city centre for the afternoon and went by all of the major attractions. Such a unique place with all of the canals, it is very pretty along the canal streets.           ... In just a few minutes we were standing in the middle of what was later described on the radio as the "storm of the century", worst since 1901!           Yesterday, we headed off to the Jewish Quarter of Amsterdam. This would have been where most Jews lived in the city before WWII. We visited several museums there. The first was the Dutch Resistance Museum. The Nazis setup headquarters in a nearby college and theater. They also appointed a Jewish Council that required all Jews to register with them.
