... spectacular views of the hillside, river and huge boulders below...think Puffing Billy on steroids! An awesome experience! As dusk fell we headed to a quaint riverside town to witness cormorant fishing. Birds on leashes, diving for fish from ancient looking boats. The fishermen keep the large fish while the birds get the rest. Sake on the banks of the river, in the rain, with paper lanterns swaying in the breeze completed our day. This was the longest. Home after ...

      Onomichi to Imabari 70km Cycling

A travel blog entry by canadiansmiley on Oct 27, 2013

Took the early morning train from Hiroshima to Onomichi to start my 70km cycling trip to Imbari. Was looking forward to the trip. This trip reminds me of the cycling through Vancouver islands. Island hopping. It is very easy to go from one place to the next. All routes are well ...

People looked like they been up without any sleep. The fires were already burning. We wished each other ...

... park beneath it. The moat with giant carp - and turtles. Screeching old trams. It's cosy. So I stayed for a coffee and people-watching. Then I bid my goodbye and left just as the lunch hour struck. I got pretty infuriated later that afternoon though. Imabari struck some real bad chords. The one day that my pmt levels peaked beyond belief was the wrong day for a hotel to email out a map that sent me wild goose chasing across town for ...

      Hiroshima

A travel blog entry by reynolds925 on Apr 22, 2013

From Kyoto it was off to Hiroshima. We took an early train to take advantage of almost a full day in Hiroshima. A quick breakfast at Kyoto station and we were off on the Shinkansen once again. The train trip was about 2 hours and we had pretty much the entire train car to ourselves. We arrived in Hiroshima and promptly took a streetcar (tram) to our hotel. Being early, we headed out for lunch and managed to quickly pick a lunch spot. It was Italian on ...
