Another day in the Smoky's, saw us at Cades Cove. This is the flatter wide valley cradled in the mountains where early settlers built homes and Churches and farmed for their living. Tough life back then and here there is still evidence of how it was. A Mum Black Bear and two babies were out and about today plus deer and huge wild turkeys and a somewhat shy, but very close to us, Elk. We also visited Cherokee, an Indian reservation town in the mountains, these days set ...

... After this tasty lunch, walked a few blocks through the (cold and wet sadly) streets of the city to go and see the Liberty Bell - didn't know the history of this before my visit, but now appreciate the huge significance this has played to Americans over hundreds of years as it has been a symbol of the fight for freedom against slavery, then by the Civil Rights movement etc. Interesting to observe (from an outsiders perspective) the ...

There's a German girl here Mette (I think that's how you spell it), who's wwoofing here also. She's really nice, and her English is near perfect!

That's about it for this blog, a bit short I know, but that's just what's happened since the last blog!

We waved Christine and Paul off for a second time this trip and we headed out of New York too. We were looking to stay in the Allentown area that night – a Friday - in preparation for visiting Frank (I worked with him at Dagenham) and his lovely wife Ozden, some time that weekend - we'd been invited. Our Ozden is a very special and persuasive lady and called us to say we should go to their house that day – she was sure – so that’s what we ...

Okay--I'm going to finish this, even if it's late!

Friday, July 27th: I finally got to sleep in an apartment-not a hotel (or a refugio) in Barcelona. I woke up and finished my blog post before going out for the day. We went to the large, popular, and crowded fruit market on Las Ramblas. I consumed so much fruit in whole form and drink form that I almost didn't have room for our paella lunch by the beach! We had an interesting, Catalunya styled noodle and also black rice paella. I went with the ...
